Indicator was a canna-tech start-up aimed at helping consumers to use cannabis products more safely. Founded by an ER doctor, a hospital administrator, and a psychology professor, the goal was to create an app-based solution that helped people to understand how using different cannabis products and strains would affect them.
Methodikal created the entire brand from scratch, including brand name development, logo and brand identity design, tagline development, a messaging hierarchy, and UI/UX graphics design. We also helped with website design, development, and copywriting, building a nice little site on Squarespace.
The brand identity suggests a modern, tech-centric take on a cannabis leaf while also conveying the idea of dialing in one's cannabis experience and avoiding the dreaded 'couch lock.' The tagline, Quantify Your High, also helped consumers and dispensary owners to understand what the brand was all about.
With a crowded cannabis marketplace, developing a company name and brand identity that stood out as unique and avoided cliches was a particular challenge. This brand needed to be sophisticated enough to be taken seriously, but also had to appeal to cannabis users - both experienced consumers and newbies - so that the company could build the user base and improve the product over time.
